"Happy anniversary UP Alumni Association of Australia – New South Wales! I’m Mikaela Andrea Bonador and I’m one of the many students that your Association has greatly helped. I finished my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, major in Communication Arts – English from UP Diliman last year. I graduated as magna cum laude.

I am honoured to be a recipient of your scholarship. Because of your generosity, my last few semesters at the University were much happier, easier and worry-free. I was able to focus more on my studies. I didn’t have to worry about expenses all the time, and I was able to produce better lesson materials for my students. Because of you I felt more secure about my future. I and my family will always be grateful for your help.

After graduating, I taught English as a second language at Enderun Colleges, and now while sorting my documents needed for job application and licensure examination, I’m working part-time as an ESL teacher. In the near future, I hope I’ll be able to go back to my hometown, Lubang Island, Occidental Mindoro, and teach there.

Your support has made me feel a sense of community that I’m never alone in reaching for my dreams. I will always remember your kindness, and I promise to pay it forward whenever I can. I hope I’ll be able to provide an opportunity to others similar to the one you have provided for me. Again, thank you very much for everything and happy anniversary."

"Good day to the officers and members of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Australia – New South Wales. I’m Gabrielle Katalbas Buena, 21 years old, a graduate of Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, double major in Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of the Philippines Visayas, Miagao campus last June 2018. I am now working for the Commission on Elections as an Election Assistant and I’m currently in my third year in law school at the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos.

I would like to extend my thanks to the generous donors for supporting me when I was in my third year in college until I graduated. Without your financial support, I will not be where I am today. It’s really true because, um, when I was just starting out in law school, I used the money, the last I received to pay for my tuition and books and living expenses. I would like to especially thank Ma’am Cora Sinha for giving me second chance, and for truly understanding my situation back then. This would not have been possible without you Ma’am so thank you very much.

It is my honor to greet the University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Australia – New South Wales in its 40th anniversary. I would forever be grateful for choosing me as one of your scholars, and may you continue to further your cause, and may you continue to help other students reach their dreams by providing them with the financial support that they need. It’s a privilege being one of your scholars. It will be a privilege that I will always be thankful for. Mabuhay and God bless!"
